Hi World!
I have been a photographer for over 37 years. A Bronx native, the youngest son of Blanca & Jose Guzman, Colombian immigrants who made their way to New York in the early 40s. I first arrived in San Francisco in 1975. As a photographer on the U.S.S.Enterprise, I traveled the world and visited such ports as Mombasa, Karachi, Hobart, Perth, as well as Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Philipines. After discharge, I pursued a Photography major at CCSF, shot for Tiempo Latino and El Bohemio news in San Francisco's Mission district. At City college I was influenced by an impressive faculty. Including such photographers as Susan Felter, Joan Murray, Jim Doukas and Bob Stromeyer.
I began shooting salsa concerts in 1981 for KBRG "The finest Latin station in the nation." Since then I have photographed Salsa and Latin music, and have raised 2 lovely daughters Angela & Michelle.
Most of my work was shot using film with Canon AE-1 s and I now use digital Nikons. My work is influenced by many photographers, most notably ...Jim Marshall, Tom Elrich, Man Ray, Walker Evans and Henri Cartier Bresson. I continue to document the Bay area Latin music scene, and my work has been featured in Spin and Latin beat magazines, Timba.com, SFgate.com, and NYtimes.com among many other local publications and websites. my Photos have been exhibited at: Mission Cultural Center SF Galeria de La Raza, SF. I live in San Francisco's outer Mission.

Mick Guzman, American photographer.
Friend and fellow artist Chris Matos dubbed him “El Ojo”/The Eye, and rightfully so. With a renegade style, Mick has the gift of capturing images that speak to the soul in the most unexpected ways. His perspective of everyday life creates pictures that are otherworldly, dreamlike, and thought provoking.
The Bronx born, Bay Area native uses his photography to reacquaint himself with his hometown through an artistic assault that helped him navigate through bouts of depression and PTSD, and channeled that energy into creating pure art. Mick’s images lifts the veil and reveals moments in time evoking memories that are engaging and relatable.
His photographs takes you on a journey from the streets of New York, the colorful people and cultures that occupy them, to the harbors, and rivers that hug the coastline. His latest body of work harnesses a side to the city that is often overshadowed by the concrete and iron jungle, capturing a stillness that reminds one of the parallels between us and offers a glimpse into how he views the world.
